January 2012 Newsletter Happy New Year!! Thank you for making my birthday one of the best ever!! On the actual day of January 7, I arrived at PF Chang's to find 25 friends waiting for lunch!! Although the lunch wasn't a surprise, I was surprised to see so many there!! I thought PF Chang's did a good job of taking care of us, and I thought the cake from Wegmans was outstanding!! A beautiful light cake with non-fat buttercream frosting, decorated with red and purple roses, and a ruby-red hat card airbrushed in frosting in the center, and filled with fresh berries!!! YUM YUM! Thank you all for the VISA gift card and the shopping trip to Charming Charlie's. They also gave us a 20% discount, refreshments and took our pix for their corporate newsletter. I managed to find a few goodies (smile)! As always, we create quite a stir and several other customers came over to ask us about the RHS and took our picture. It was a great day; thank you!! January Birthdays Martha (7th), Sylvia (8th), Nan Wehmeyer and Melinda McDaniel (20th). Have a great birthday Dolls! Upcoming Events February 18, 2012 - "MARDI GRAS luncheon at Okra's in Old Town Manassas" - 11:30 am"Order from menu, separate checks. Mardi Gras colors are gold, purple and green. Wear your beads, masks, costumes or colors. We had a good crowd last year and want to do it again! RSVP to Martha.March 10, 2012 - "FAMOUS LADIES IN HISTORY TEA at Silas Burke House, Burke, VA" - 1:30 pmIf you could step back in time and have tea with a famous lady, who would it be? For extra fun, come as that lady. We'll try to guess, and then you can tell us who you are and why she is your favorite. (You can check online for lists of famous ladies). It will be fun if you do this, but as always, it is optional. March is Ladies History month, and what better place to do this than a historic home like Silas Burke House! As the last time there, we will collect a donation of about $25.April 28, 2012 - "LADYBUG TEA at Martha's" - 1 to 4 pmWe 'spotted' the 'ladies(bugs)' gathering for tea….. Wear spots! Polka dots, or anything with ladybugs on it. It will be fun to see all the spots! Traditionally ladybugs are red and black, but do come in other colors too. Ladybugs are considered lucky. I will do the tea, fresh lemon curd and Devonshire cream, and request you to bring small tea sandwiches or desserts.
